Bob Dylan 1978 European Tour - Blackbushe Aerodrome, Camberley UK 15 July 1978
This is a re-upload of the show. Thanks to the original taper and to Captain Acid for his excellent 2020 sound upgrade (details below). I originally posted the show early last year just before the Captain did his stuff and have decided to re-upload this upgrade because he has done such a great job and because I know how much this performance means to so many, myself included (my earlier upload was far & away the most popular I’ve ever posted, both in terms of likes and comments). Thanks also to Mr. D., Captain Acid’s associate, whose artwork I have also made use of. Thanks to bjorner.com - http://www.bjorner.com/DSN04000%20197... – for the following information: Concert # 19 of the 1978 European Tour 1978 concert # 49 Concert # 26 with the 1978 World Tour Band: Bob Dylan (vocals & guitar) Billy Cross (lead guitar) Alan Pasqua (keyboards) Steven Soles (rhythm guitar, backup vocals) David Mansfield (violin & mandolin) Steve Douglas (horns) Jerry Scheff (bass) Bobbye Hall (percussion) Ian Wallace (drums) Helena Springs, Jo Ann Harris, Carolyn Dennis (backing vocals) 1 instrumental without Bob Dylan 6, 10, 26 Bob Dylan (harmonica) 15 Carolyn Dennis (vocals) backed by Bob Dylan and the band 16 Helena Springs (vocals) backed by Bob Dylan and the band 17 Jo Ann Harris (vocals) backed by Bob Dylan and the band 19 Bob Dylan solo (vocals, guitar & harmonica) 32 Eric Clapton (guitar) * The source of this upload is the 'Captain Acid' FLAC ‘upgrade2020_acidproject’ recording, LB- 14965 (http://losslessbob.wonderingwhattocho.... Please also bear in mind that the original recording has been made available freely & disinterestedly for personal enjoyment. It was not originally distributed for profit and shouldn’t be exploited for profit on Youtube or any other medium, unless, I suppose, the taper, the creator (up to a point), should choose to do so. Thank you. * Around 200,000 people at this one-day festival at an aerodrome around 30 miles from London, and Olga Tee and I (separately) were two of them. It turns out we both also went to one of the Earl's Court gigs in London a little earlier that summer and we are agreed that Blackbushe was the best. Here is one short comment and some links to more comments and photos. "It may be important to put this concert in the context of it being Dylan's first visit to the UK for nearly a decade. After news of his six-night residency at Earl's Court broke in Apri, fans slept on pavements for three nights to get tickets at outlets across the UK. The shows were so over-subscribed that Harvey Goldsmith decided to put on an extra show, expecting about 100,000 people but the attendance was at least double. Harvey Goldsmith told me personally recently: ''Dylan was on fire during that tour and at Blackbushe we couldn't get him off the stage''. This was a worry as 'local' residents had tried to stop the concert from taking place on noise pollution grounds and Goldsmith was worried about falling foul of the law. Dylan's three hours 05 minutes performance was his longest ever continuous appearance on stage though he did leave the vocals to backing singers and band members at one stage to 'make a telephone call'." GM Website with comments from attendees (the above included): http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/blackb... Some photos: https://www.inyourarea.co.uk/news/in-... Here is a link to Andrew Darlington's blog about the show (the text was included in Mr. D’s extensive artwork): https://andrewdarlington.blogspot.com... And here is an interesting & entertaining story about going to the show from the Youtube channel Classic Rock Album Reviews: • BOB DYLAN BLACKBUSHE 1978 A CHANCERS ... Lastly, though I haven’t looked for a while, I think the uploader Irenehilda is worth checking out for 1978 songs & shows. (ps… when I uploaded the previous version of the show, I was reliably informed by someone who lives there that, while it was in the Camberley postal district at the time, Blackbushe is NOT actually Camberley, but part of YATELEY… so there... )

Nobel Prize Winner, Pulitzer Prize Winner, and Oscar Winner are a few of the top accomplishments of Bob Dylan.
This stunning retrospective features a comprehensive and detailed study of the most talented songwriter of the 20th century. Join a leading team of critics as they explore the legacy of Dylan. The film features highlights of Dylan performing live: Highway 61 Revisited, Fixin' To Die, Man of Constant Sorrow, When The Ship Comes In, Only A Pawn In Their Game, Blowin' In The Wind, Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall, The Times They Are A Changing, Mr. Tambourine Man, Like A Rolling Stone, Tangled Up In Blue and many more! Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer and songwriter. Often regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Dylan has been a major figure in popular culture during a career spanning more than 60 years. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s, when songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind" (1963) and "The Times They Are a-Changin'" (1964) became anthems for the civil rights and antiwar movements. His lyrics during this period incorporated a range of political, social, philosophical, and literary influences, defying pop music conventions and appealing to the burgeoning counterculture. Dylan was born and raised in St. Louis County, Minnesota. Following his self-titled debut album in 1962, which comprised mainly traditional folk songs, he made his breakthrough as a songwriter with the release of The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan the following year. The album features "Blowin' in the Wind" and the thematically complex "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall". Many of his songs adapted the tunes and phraseology of older folk songs. He went on to release the politically charged The Times They Are a-Changin' and the more lyrically abstract and introspective Another Side of Bob Dylan in 1964. In 1965 and 1966, Dylan drew controversy among folk purists when he adopted electrically amplified rock instrumentation, and in the space of 15 months recorded three of the most important and influential rock albums of the 1960s: Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited (both 1965) and Blonde on Blonde (1966). His six-minute single "Like a Rolling Stone" (1965) expanded commercial and creative boundaries in popular music. In July 1966, a motorcycle accident led to Dylan's withdrawal from touring. During this period, he recorded a large body of songs with members of the Band, who had previously backed him on tour. These recordings were released as the collaborative album The Basement Tapes in 1975. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Dylan explored country music and rural themes in John Wesley Harding (1967), Nashville Skyline (1969), and New Morning (1970). In 1975, he released Blood on the Tracks, which many saw as a return to form. In the late 1970s, he became a born-again Christian and released a series of albums of contemporary gospel music before returning to his more familiar rock-based idiom in the early 1980s. Dylan's 1997 album Time Out of Mind marked the beginning of a renaissance for his career. He has released five critically acclaimed albums of original material since then, the most recent being Rough and Rowdy Ways (2020). He also recorded a series of three albums in the 2010s comprising versions of traditional American standards, especially songs recorded by Frank Sinatra. Dylan has toured continuously since the late 1980s on what has become known as the Never Ending Tour. Since 1994, Dylan has published nine books of paintings and drawings, and his work has been exhibited in major art galleries. He has sold more than 145 million records,[11] making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time. He has received numerous awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, ten Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award. Dylan has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The Pulitzer Prize Board in 2008 awarded him a special citation for "his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power". In 2016, Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition".

Hurricane Bob Dylan - Story Behind The Song
In 1975 the lives of Bob Dylan and Rubin Carter intersected, and the result was the song Hurricane. A man convicted of murder and serving a life sentence releases his autobiography while in jail, and a public uprising ensues. Into this maelstrom Dylan released an 8 and 1/2 minute epic that describes the saga in detail. There are multiple backstories here that even fans of Dylan don't know. In this song analysis, I delve into the whole story behind the song. For more stories behind great songs,

Previously Unseen Bob Dylan Press Conference - Rare Uncut Interview (1986)
14,152 views • Feb 8, 2024 • #BobDylan #Sixties #1960s
On 18 August 1986, Bob Dylan held a press conference at the National Film Theatre in London. Promoting his latest acting venture, Hearts of Fire, Dylan shared a stage with director Richard Marquand, producer Iain Smith, and fellow cast members Fiona Flanagan and Rupert Everett. In a remarkably long interview, the usually-reticent Dylan answered questions on a range of subjects including how he came to be involved in the film, why he wasn't writing funny songs about Ronald Reagan, the timeless power of The Times They Are a Changin', and moving on from his work in the 1960s. Only three minutes of the Hearts of Fire press conference footage made it into ITN's bulletin on the day of recording. The original rushes of the interview were recently recovered and digitised by the ITN Archive team, and are being shared publicly here for the first time.

Bob Dylan London Interview July 1981 [Full Album] - Bob Dylan
. Recorded: 07/02/1981 White House Hotel, London, England Bob sits down for an interview with Dave Herman. 3 selections from the at the time soon to be released "Shot Of Love". Here are the liner notes: "Dear Colleagues in Radio and Rock and Roll: It recently occurred to me that although there are hundreds and hundreds of both live and recorded performances burned indelibly in our brains, only a handful of artists have shaken the foundations of our world and profoundly influenced our lives. Who would you say these artists are? Elvis? Chuck Berry? Buddy Holly? The Beatles? The Stones? Springsteen? BOB DYLAN? Is there anyone, anywhere who wouldn't include this man? As George Harrison said, "Dylan upstages us all!" Earlier this month, I had the unique privilege of tape-recording a conversation with Bob Dylan, as he was in the midst of a European tour. I caught up with him in London. He had performed his 6th and final London concert the night before at Earl's Court to a packed, rapt house of 20,000. We Met the following afternoon in his hotel room. Wearing white jeans and tee shirt, barefoot, Dylan settled down to talk. He relaxed himself during our conversation by strumming a guitar and, as you'll often hear, punctuating his remarks with it. Except for a brief interview many years ago, this is the only other time Dylan has made himself available to a national radio audience. His soon-to-be released album, SHOT OF LOVE, and his consent to a broadcast interview mark yet another turning point in the career of a man who has deeply affected each of us. I know you'll want to share this interview. Dave Herman

A Young Bob Dylan Talks And Plays On "The Studs Terkel Program" 1963
Two Legends Together! In the spring of 1963 Studs Terkel introduced Chicago radio listeners to an up-and-coming musician, not yet 22 years old, "a young folk poet who you might say looks like Huckleberry Finn, if he lived in the 20th century. His name is Bob Dylan." Dylan had just finished recording the songs for his second album, "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan", when he traveled from New York to Chicago to play a gig at a little place partly owned by his manager, Albert Grossman, called "The Bear Club". The next day he went to the WFMT studios for the hour-long appearance on "The Studs Terkel Program". Things were moving fast in Dylan's life at that time. He was just emerging as a major songwriter. His debut album from the year before, Bob Dylan, was made up mostly of other people's songs. The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, which was finished but hadn't yet been released, contained almost all original material, including several songs that would become classics, like "Blowin' in the Wind," "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" and "A Hard Rain's a Gonna Fall." Within a few months Dylan would make his debut at the Newport Folk Festival and perform at the historic March on Washington. But when Dylan visited WFMT, it's likely that many of Terkel's listeners had never heard of him. In the recorded broadcast he plays the following songs:
1) Farewell
2) A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall 3) Bob Dylan's Dream
4) Boots of Spanish Leather
5) John Brown
6) Blowin' In The Wind (Source: "Open Culture")
